Jacksonville Honors Fallen Heroes at National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony
May 25, 2017
The National Cemetery Administration will host a Memorial Day ceremony at the Jacksonville National Cemetery (4083 Lannie Rd. – 32218) as a show of patriotism and gratitude for the military men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States armed forces.
Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May commemorating U.S. Service Members who died while on active duty. First enacted to honor Union and Confederate soldiers following the American Civil War, the observance was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars. The National Cemetery service will begin at 10 a.m.
