On Tuesday, Dr. Charles Moreland, along with Sheriff T.K. Waters, State Attorney Melissa Nelson, Special Agent Mike Dubet, T.J. Ward and Dr. Dawn Sollee encouraged citizens to participate in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event begins on Saturday.
DEA Prescription Drug Take Back Day is a free and anonymous way for citizens to safely dispose of prescription drugs. Unneeded medications – those that are old, unwanted or unused - too often become the gateway to addiction.
Collection sites will accept tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. They will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
On Saturday, April 22, there will be five participating sites in Duval County from 10 am to 2 pm:
