Winter Storm Preparation: If residents haven’t completed their winter storm preparations, now is the time. This is especially important for residents who live on the Northwest and West side of Duval County.

  • Check Your Emergency Supply Kit: Ensure you have essentials like blankets, batteries, water, and non-perishable food.

  • Have a Plan for Your Family: Ensure everyone knows how to stay safe and is prepared for cold weather conditions.
  • Prepare Your Home, Family, Pets, and Plants: Insulate exposed pipes, seal drafts, and ensure everyone has warm clothing and blankets. Bring pets inside or provide adequate shelter and warmth for them outdoors. Cover cold-sensitive plants.
  • Fuel Up: Ensure your vehicles and heating sources are ready to go.

Drive Carefully: Icy roads are possible overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Drive with caution and be aware of potential roadway hazards. Black ice may cause slick spots to form on bridges, overpasses, and secondary roads.

Fire Safety: With dangerously cold temperatures approaching, the increased use of heating equipment brings a heightened risk of home fires. Caution should be used with space heaters, fireplaces, and appliances. Visit JaxReady.com/StayWarmJax for more safety tips.
