City of Jacksonville to Host 33rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast

January 14, 2020
With Keynote Speaker Coach Ken Carter
The City of Jacksonville invites the community to celebrate the life, legacy and service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 33rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast presented by Florida Blue. The breakfast will be held on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center.  The doors will open at 7 a.m. and the program will begin at 8 a.m.

“For more than three decades, the citizens of Jacksonville have gathered together at this annual breakfast to honor the legacy of one of our country’s most inspiring and influential leaders,” said Mayor Lenny Curry. “This event provides an opportunity for all citizens to join in fellowship, strengthen community bonds and renew our commitment to Dr. King’s vision of freedom, justice and equality for America and the world.”
The breakfast will feature Mayor Curry and newly announced keynote speaker Coach Ken Carter, a successful author, speaker and philanthropist who continues his message of teamwork, accountability, integrity, and leadership. One of Coach Ken Carter’s many achievements include his time as a basketball coach at Richmond High School. The story of their 1999 basketball season led to the inspiration for the 2005 movie Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson.

The program will also recognize award recipients of Tomorrow’s Leaders, presented by VyStar Credit Union. Tomorrow’s Leaders is a component of the breakfast that recognizes and awards youth in our community who exemplify the philosophies of Dr. King through leadership, community volunteerism and civic responsibility.

The breakfast will be hosted by Tenikka Hughes from Action News Jax and Anthony Austin from First Coast News.

Limited individual tickets and corporate tables are available for purchase at JaxMLKBreakfast.com. Individual tickets are $40 and corporate tables are $500. Ticket pricing includes admittance and breakfast. Parking for the event is free.
