City of Jacksonville Recognized for IT Excellence

June 03, 2015
CIO Magazine Includes Jacksonville Among Top Effective, Innovative Users of IT

The City of Jacksonville received national recognition this week for its effective, innovative use of information technology. IDG’s CIO Magazine named the city as a recipient of the 2015 CIO 100 Awards, highlighting organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence.
Jacksonville is one of only three local governments included on the CIO 100 list.

In November, the City ranked third nationally in the Center for Digital Government’s Digital Cities Survey. Locally, the City’s Information Technologies Division received recognition for the past two years as Best CIO (2013) and IT Dream Team (2014) at the Jacksonville Business Journal’s BizTech Innovation Awards.

The City of Jacksonville earned recognition from CIO Magazine for its performance management and analytics tools – JaxOps, JaxAnalytics and JaxScore. This system links local government to the community, communicating efficiently with employees and citizens alike.

“As governments at all levels look to cut costs and streamline operations, many turn to technology as a way to increase efficiency and improve operations,” said Mayor Alvin Brown. “The City’s Information Technologies Division, led by CIO Usha Mohan, is an integral part of our strategy to provide efficient and quality service to Jacksonville residents. The team’s efforts on the Comprehensive Performance Management solution, including JaxOps scorecards, analytics platforms and citizen dashboards, are indispensable to that mission, and completely deserving of this recognition.”

"For 28 years now, the CIO 100 awards have honored the innovative use of technology to deliver genuine business value," said Maryfran Johnson, editor-in-chief of CIO Magazine & Events. "Our 2015 winners are an outstanding example of the transformative power of IT to drive everything from revenue growth to competitive advantage."

The City of Jacksonville will be recognized along with the other winners at The CIO 100 Symposium & Awards Ceremony, to be held Aug. 11 in Colorado Springs. Coverage of the 2015 CIO 100 Awards will be available online at CIO.com on Aug. 1, and in the August issue of CIO magazine.
