The City of Jacksonville and the Emergency Preparedness Division is urging residents with medical needs to register for free for the Special Medical Needs Registry ahead of hurricane season. Annual registration ensures individuals who require medical support receive necessary assistance during emergencies, including evacuation, transportation, and sheltering services.
Who Should Register?
Residents who meet the following criteria should register:
- Individuals dependent on electricity for medical needs – this includes those who require power for oxygen concentrators, ventilators, nebulizers or other life sustaining equipment.
- Individuals with mobility or functional limitations - including those who need assistance evacuating safely due to physical or medical conditions.
- Persons with cognitive impairments who need specialized support – such as individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other conditions that may impact their ability to respond to emergency situations.
Reminder: Registrants MUST renew their registration each year to maintain access to these critical services.
