The City of Jacksonville and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful will join UltraShred Technologies, Iron Mountain, Shred It and Urban Mining companies for the sixth annual America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful observation dedicated to the promotion of recycling programs throughout the country. Robust recycling efforts are an important part of Jacksonville’s Fight Blight initiative to keep city neighborhoods clean. Last year, more than 19,000 pounds of paper and 500 pounds of cardboard were collected and shredded. This year’s communitywide recycling collection event will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the following locations:
-
Adventure Landing (1944 Beach Boulevard – 32250), 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
-
Iron Mountain and Ultra Shred Technologies will collect and shred paper, while Urban Mining will be on-site to collect computer equipment.
-
Prime Osborn Convention Center (1000 Water Street – 32204), 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. Shred It will collect and shred paper.
Both sites will have volunteers collecting gently worn shoes, blankets, coats, towels and sporting equipment to benefit the Jacksonville Humane Society, Lions Club International, Teacher Supply Depot, Soles 4 Souls, BEAM, Downtown Ecumenical Services and UNF Trail Wings.
