April is National Poetry Month

April 11, 2017
Established by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is one of the largest literary celebrations in the nation, dedicated to celebrating poetry’s important place in our culture.
The observance provides poetry fans the opportunity to honor the legacy and ongoing achievement of American poets, encourage the reading of poems, as well as encourage and increase support for poets and poetry.

The Jacksonville Public Library is celebrating National Poetry Month with a variety of programs and activities including poetry writing workshops, Spoken Word: Open Mic sessions and more!
