The City’s animal shelter,
Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) has maintained status as a no-kill shelter since 2014. With a full-time staff of 52 veterinarians, technicians, trainers, and administrative personnel, ACPS is able to offer a multitude of services including vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and more.
In fiscal year 2017-18, ACPS responded to 21,000 service calls, performed 5,390 surgeries, and took in 11,077 animals. Currently, the animal shelter is operating over capacity, housing 528 animals.

Adoptions are $20 (city license fee included) for large dogs, cats and kittens; puppies and small dogs are $40 through November.
