Mary E. Staffopoulos joined the Office of General Counsel in November 2019. Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Staffopoulos was an Assistant City Attorney with the City of Largo, Florida, serving as legal counsel to the city commission, city manager, executive management and staff, as well as various city advisory and quasi-judicial boards. She has extensive experience in municipal law including drafting and review of contracts and legislation, extensive knowledge of local, federal and state laws and policy, land use and execution of municipal authority. Ms. Staffopoulos also litigated bankruptcy, foreclosure, small claims and code enforcement cases on behalf of the City of Largo. Prior to her tenure at the City of Largo, Ms. Staffopoulos worked in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit for the State of Florida as a Judicial Staff Attorney for a number civil and criminal divisions including the felony sex crimes, felony trial, family and post-conviction relief divisions.
Ms. Staffopoulos received a Bachelor of Science, in Biology from Emory University in 2001. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2005.
Attorney Staffopoulos is a member of the Florida Bar, American Bar Association, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the Florida Association of County Attorneys, and the Florida Municipal Attorneys Association.
