Cherry Shaw Pollock joined the Office of General Counsel in May 2007, and handles land use, foreclosure, and regulatory enforcement cases as well as drafts numerous ordinances and resolutions for presentations to the Jacksonville City Council. Ms. Pollock also handles various appellate matters before appellate courts including the First District Court of Appeal. She also serves as counsel to several advisory committees for the City, and various City departments and agencies including the Neighborhoods Department, the Planning and Development Department, the Public Works Department and the Duval County Clerk of Court. Ms. Pollock also serves as the ethics counsel to the Jacksonville Ethics Commission.
Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Pollock was an Assistant County Attorney in the Leon County Attorney's Office (2002-2007) where she counseled the Value Adjustment Board, the Contractor's Licensing Board and prosecuted Code Enforcement Board actions, in addition to handling numerous litigation matters, contract negotiations, as well as drafting hundreds of ordinances and resolutions to the County Commission. Previously, Ms. Pollock worked as a Senior Attorney/Board Counsel for the Florida Department of Health (2000-2002) where she received the Medical Quality Assurance Employee of the Year Award. There, she litigated hundreds of regulatory cases before the Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH), and also provided legal advice to regulatory boards regarding licensure and disciplinary matters. Prior to this, Ms. Pollock worked for the Attorney General's Office as an Assistant Attorney General (1998-2000) handling general civil litigation including family law matters in state courts.
Attorney Pollock is admitted to practice in Florida (1999) and Wisconsin (1998) (inactive), as well as the United States Supreme Court (2004), and the United States District Courts, for the Northern (2000) and Middle Districts of Florida (2000). In 2010, Ms. Pollock was inducted into the Chester Bedell Inn of Court, and also served on its Executive Committee for a few years.
