Northside Company Enhances Expansion Resulting from London Trip
March 05, 2014
Greencore USA, Inc., a publicly traded global food service company that already employs 259 people on Jacksonville’s Northside, announced that it plans a $10 million investment and expansion that would create up to 283 new jobs, pending approval of City legislation.
Mayor Alvin Brown, along with city and business leaders, met with Greencore executives in London last year as part of the economic development trip coinciding with the Jaguars’ game at Wembley Stadium.
“This major business expansion, with plans to create hundreds of new jobs, is great news for Jacksonville,” said Mayor Brown. “It’s a direct result of our targeted business development efforts in London last year, and it shows the value of our public-private partnerships to promote business opportunities here. Our partnership with Greencore focuses on job creation in the food logistics sector in North Jacksonville.”
"Greencore's decision to expand in Jacksonville is great news for our region,” said Jerry Mallot, JAXUSA President. “It is also the first impact from our London mission with the Jaguars and further evidence of our international successes. Greencore sets very high standards of excellence in food preparation, safety and distribution that reflect very well on Jacksonville and the region."
Liam McClennon, Greencore USA CEO said, “We are very excited about the expansion of our facility in Jacksonville and we are happy that we will be able to create hundreds of new jobs for the region. This investment is consistent with our strategy to build high quality manufacturing facilities to meet the specific needs of our key customers and we would like to thank Mayor Brown and his team for their support.”
