The Jacksonville Maritime Museum has moved to a 9,000 sq. ft. first floor space inside the Jacksonville Landing. Previously located on the Southbank Riverwalk, the museum began the move in December and had its official grand opening on April 9, 2011.
The new space is larger and will allow the museum to display more items. The museum also has plans for a 50-seat media center and interactive display.
The Jacksonville Maritime Museum Society is a non-profit, educational association that collects books, documents, artifacts and other historical objects significant to the general maritime history of Jacksonville and Florida's First Coast. The museum is operated and maintained by volunteers. The new hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
