Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman is a proud native of Jacksonville, who has devoted her career to the advancement of city services, veteran’s advocacy, and innovative community development. Her public service has been guided by a simple philosophy, “Go out of your comfort zone to make a difference”. She understands that to effectively work on behalf of Jacksonville’s 8th District, it is her responsibility to understand community needs, serve as the voice of the citizens, and leverage her leadership skills and hands-on approach to promote progress. She has served the Jacksonville community faithfully for more than 30 years.
Currently, Pittman serves as Jacksonville City Council Member for District 8 and serves on the Rules Committee, the Neighborhoods, Community Service, Public Health & Safety (NCSPHS) Committee, the Special Committee on Opioids, Jacksonville Transportation Authority Board, Jacksonville Zoological Board, the Jacksonville Housing and Community Development Committee and Chair of the Special Committee on Jacksonville Small Emerging Businesses(JSEB). She was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in July 2018 and elected by the constituents of District 8 in 2019.
Councilwoman Pittman has served as CEO/President of the Clara White Mission for 27 years, providing social and professional services to Jacksonville’s underserved communities and homeless veterans.
When Pittman recognized that Jacksonville’s homeless veteran community needed more support, she set forth an innovative and ambitious expansion plan. In 2017, Pittman managed the opening of the Beaver Street Veterans Villas and Outreach Center, a 4,200 sq. ft. facility providing veterans permanent housing and supportive services. Pittman was a featured guest on the “Today Show” and was recognized for the transformational impact that Clara White Mission and Beaver Street Outreach Center provides to the city’s homeless veterans, ex-offenders, homeless, and low-income communities. Pittman takes great pride in her role in providing these critically services for our communities targeted population and the collaborations and partnerships, she has fostered along the way.
In addition to her work on City Council and with Clara White Mission, Pittman has served on several political transition teams, supporting Jacksonville Mayors John Delaney, John Peyton, Alvin Brown and Lenny Curry.
She is an active community trustee and advocate for organizations, including Leadership Jacksonville, Leadership Florida, Uptown Civitan Jacksonville, Junior League, Homeless Coalition, and the Downtown Rotary Club.
Pittman has been acknowledged in the community for her commitment and contributions. Some of her achievements include: The Eve Award for Employment, the FBI Community Leadership Award, Urban League Leadership Award, Leadership Jacksonville Award, NAACP Award, Mayor’s Commission on the Statues of Woman, HUD Opportunity and Empowerment Award, Jacksonville Business Journal “Women of Influence,” Jessie Ball DuPont Leadership Award, Mary Singleton Award, and CDBG Award for Community Revitalization.
Pittman earned dual degrees from Florida State College in Jacksonville (Associate in Arts: Business Administration) and Jones College (Bachelor of Science: Business Administration). As one of Jones College’s most accomplished alumna and valued advisors, Pittman was honored with the College’s Doctorate of Humane Letters.
Pittman is a devoted public servant who is committed to engaging constituents, mobilizing government officials, and securing investors and partners in District 8. By bringing all the stakeholders to the table, Pittman can comprehensively address community needs and create sustainable and effective solutions for her district and the community. Pittman’s astute awareness of the needs of District 8, has been developed over the years with an implementation strategy that enhance community engagement, revitalization collaborations, and advocacy for economic advancement and social services. Her non-profit and public sector experience has established proven community partnerships, to promote advancement and have prepared her to effectively represent her constituents on the City Council.

- Engaging and mobilizing constituents and government to work together to address neighborhood concerns and achieve results by utilizing her voice, influence, and negotiation skills to address the most urgent and important issues impacting the residents of District 8.
