In observance of Presidents Day, many City government offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025.Additionally, please be advised that the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade, which was rescheduled due to inclement weather in January, will take place on Monday, February 17. It will begin in Lot J at 10:30am and will conclude in Lot Z (view route map). Festivities will continue after the parade until 4pm in Lot Z with music, vendors, and more. The parade is a Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Foundation, Inc. event that the City of Jacksonville is proud to support, and Mayor Deegan is excited to participate in.

First Degree Program Expected to Begin in August 2025, Main Launch in 2026 

The City of Jacksonville Emergency Preparedness Division has partnered with the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) to become the first city to implement the Florida Recovery Obligation Calculation (F-ROC) – a new system designed to enhance Jacksonville’s ability to recover disaster-related costs more efficiently.

Today, Mayor Deegan honored the top 25 youth and adult readers in the city at a special event commemorating the first year of River City Readers, her landmark literacy initiative. The mayor created River City Readers as a citywide challenge to help more Duval County students read at grade level. The mayor’s literacy program is intended to support a commitment to growing jobs and spurring economic development, improving health and public safety, deepening the city’s talent pool, and fostering a love of learning in all citizens.

Today, the City of Jacksonville launched a Budget Transparency Dashboard. This groundbreaking initiative is aimed at fostering greater transparency, operational excellence, and data-driven decision-making in the city’s budget preparation process.

Mayor Donna Deegan will host a series of six town halls to discuss her budget priorities and update citizens on a range of city projects and initiatives. These events are free and open to the public and do not require preregistration.
