Jax Code 4 Change

COJ Service Desk Dashboard

The "Jax Code 4 Change" initiative, led by the City of Jacksonville and the Mayor's Office, is dedicated to harnessing the potential of underrepresented tech talent in our community. Through specialized training in software development, data analytics, and AI, this program provides students with real-world business opportunities to develop tech solutions that enhance the city’s transparency, efficiency, and equity. As part of the Mayor's Transparency initiative, students, under the guidance of the City of Jacksonville's Technology Solutions Department and Scratchwerk Tech, developed the Service Desk Dashboard. This powerful tool offers a real-time view of city issues, with detailed pages for service requests and key performance indicators for a quick, high-level overview of specific ticket categories. The project was brought to life by student developers Delali, Jada, and Monique who expertly handled data analysis, formatting, and presentation to deliver this essential dashboard.

About "Jax Code 4 Change"

The Service Desk Dashboard is a significant achievement within the broader context of fostering tech skills in the community. This initiative builds on the success of the 100 Black Men of Jacksonville "Coding in Color" program funded by the Kids Hope Alliance and the MyVillage Project. By providing students with the tools and mentorship needed to succeed, "Jax Code 4 Change" is creating pathways for young tech talent to make a lasting impact on Jacksonville's future while ensuring that city services remain accessible and transparent for all residents. The dashboard not only reflects the technical prowess of its student developers but also the city's commitment to addressing issues in real-time and improving public access to critical information.
