Value Adjustment Board
Fees and Charges

The Value Adjustment Board charges filing fees (with certain exceptions). Filing fees are non-refundable. To review in detail, click Duval County Value Adjustment Board Filing Fees and Exceptions. For a quick overview, please review the following:

There is no fee for Homestead Exemption Denials (except for a late filed application for exemption) or for persons with Department of Children & Family Services proper certification or other documentation.


Single joint Petitions with multiple real estate numbers filed by condominium, cooperative, or homeowners’ associations as agents according to Florida Statute Section 194.011(3) (e), should include a copy of the board of administration or directors’ resolution authorizing the Petition filing with the DR-486MU form listing each real estate number.

For single joint Petitions filed by an owner of multiple tangible personal property accounts, you must list each amount number in the spaces provided on the DR-486MU attachment.

ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE DR-486 PETITION AND HAVE COMPLETED THE DR-486MU ATTACHMENT, A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE PROPERTY APPRAISERS OFFICE MUST SIGN THE ATTACHMENT TO INDICATE THE PROPERTY APPRAISER HAS DETERMINED THAT THE PARCELS OR ACCOUNTS ARE SUBSTANTIALLY SIMILAR AS REQUIRED BY FS. 194.011(3)(E),(F), OR (G). DR-486MU 

It is the petitioner/taxpayers responsibility to obtain the signature and certification of the property appraiser on the DR-486MU form NOT THE VALUE ADJUSTMENT BOARD.

Your petition is an incomplete petition if you do not obtain the signature from the property appraiser. If the property appraiser does not certify the parcels comply with law on the the DR-486MU, you then must file a separate petition for each parcel and pay the filing fee of $15.00 per petition.

If you obtain the property appraisers certification on the DR-486MU attachment, the filing fee is $15.00 for the first parcel and $5.00 for each additional parcel listed.
