City Council Approves New Appropriation for Tree Plantings
July 01, 2022
Jacksonville's city council recently unanimously passed a bill to provide further continued funding from the city's tree mitigation fund for city tree planting projects.
This funding will support continued projects that are conducted throughout the county. On our webpage, you can find a listing of these projects at https://www.coj.net/departments/public-works/urban-forestry/resources/city-tree-projects. This shows continued support from the Jacksonville City Council to continue planting trees in the right places, making our city more environmentally friendly and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. The tree fund that this project funding comes from permit fees collected during the removal of trees at times of development, and allows the city to plant new trees in the hopes of offsetting some of the environmental benefits lost due to tree removal.
