May 19, 2011 - Mayor Elect Alvin Brown News Conference
Numerous current and former Elected Officials, former candidates, City Employees, and supporters of Mayor Elect Alvin Brown, crowded around the south entrance of City Hall spilling into Duval Street prior to the historic news conference Thursday morning, May 19th, with Mayor John Peyton and Mayor Elect Alvin Brown.
"I look forward to assisting Alvin and his team through the transition and wish him well throughout the course of his term,"
said Mayor Peyton.
Due to the large crowd, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office closed Duval Street in front of City Hall for the news conference.

The group included many Elected Officials, including Congresswoman Corrine Brown and Representative Mia Jones, former Representative and Mayor Tommy Hazouri, now serving as a Member of the School Board. Also present were former Representative Mike Langton, former Representative and past City Council President Eric Smith and Hemming Plaza regulars.

At the news conference Mayor Elect Brown said
"I am deeply honored by the trust that the people of Jacksonville have placed in me. I am excited about the opportunity that we have to take Jacksonville to the next level, and I will work with people from every corner of this community to move Jacksonville forward. That will be my most critical priority as mayor."
