Mosquito Control
Our Mission
The Mosquito Control Division is responsible for all activities in the City of Jacksonville relating to the control of mosquitoes. The division performs spraying as needed and educates the public about its role in reducing the mosquito population throughout the city.
About Us
Duval County has a modern mosquito control program that has been active since 1957, the Jacksonville Mosquito Control Division. Today, this unit joins with over 50 other mosquito control districts in Florida to lead the nation in community-based mosquito control.
We've all felt the annoying sting and lingering itch of mosquito bites and wondered, 'Can't something be done to eliminate these pests?' The answer is, 'YES, and something is being done everyday to control mosquitoes in Jacksonville.' Take a look through the website to see what is being done to control mosquitoes and monitor mosquito transmitted diseases in your area.
To request Mosquito Control to inspect or spray your property or neighborhood contact 630-CITY (2489) and an operator will assist you. Requests can also be made Online.
Mosquitoes and Viruses
The City of Jacksonville takes the health of our residents seriously. We understand the concern and are cognizant of the potential for mosquito-borne disease outbreaks such as Zika virus. Jacksonville Mosquito Control Division routinely coordinates with the Duval County Health Department regarding these viruses and responds quickly with surveillance and appropriate treatments when warranted. The Florida Department of Health put out an excellent video on how to prevent mosquitoes from biting.
For more information on preventing mosquito-borne diseases such as Zika virus or West Nile virus, please refer to the following document from the Florida Department of Health: Mosquito Bite Prevention in Florida or check out one of the following web sites: Center for Disease Control, Florida Department of Health.
