One Jax: Youth Leadership Education

METROTOWN: 10th—12th grader: intensive, experiential teen diversity education program that promotes interracial, inter-religious and intercultural engagement held each summer.
LOUD: Leaders of United Diversity. LOUD members serve as teen OneJax ambassadors and initiate programs and activities at their schools to promote the values of inclusion and the bridging of cultures for the common good.

SCHOLARSHIPS

First Generation Scholarship Program at UNF

The University of North Florida participates in Florida's First Generation Matching Grant Program. More than 300 UNF students were awarded First Generation scholarships in 2006, thanks to UNF fundraising efforts and an appropriation from the Florida Legislature.
 

National Merit Scholarship Corporation by State Farm

These are one-time, nonrenewable awards of $2,500 made to high school seniors who qualify as Finalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. For more information, please contact National Merit Scholarship Corporation at (847) 866-5100.

Northeast Florida Counts

(www.nefloridacounts.org), a free, online health resource for the region, and its partners will award a total of four one-year, non-renewable scholarships to help defer educational costs for a period of one year’s matriculation at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Two scholarships will be awarded in each category: high school and college.
 

Minority Teacher Education Scholarship

 
Designed to attract and retain student that are interested in becoming a teacher in the state of Florida. The scholarship is administered at 33 participating colleges and universities throughout the state.

Based in Washington, D.C., the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is the nation's largest non-profit organization devoted to providing college scholarships for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).

IMPACTJAX is the young professionals program of the JAX Chamber and the premier venue for Jacksonville’s next generation of leaders to connect with each other and the community. With more than 600 members, ImpactJAX serves as a network of professional contacts for 21 to 40 year olds who currently, or are looking to, live and work in the JAX Region.

The Jacksonville Jaycees provides training in business leadership through projects that serviced the community. The Jaycees are organized into four portfolio areas each with their own focus: Community Development is charged with improving life for the citizens of Jacksonville. Individual Development focuses on helping the individual with their own personal growth. Membership development and Management Development focuses on the sales and managing the business operations of the chapter itself. Their mission is to provide young people the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills through local community service and organizational involvement while expanding the Jaycee movement.

Rotaractors range in age from 22 to 32 and consist of Jacksonville’s finest young professionals that strive to enhance our community through the common bonds of professional development, community service and friendship. Just like their counterparts in Rotary International, their primary focus is “Service Above Self,” whether that service benefits those close to home or around the world. Each month we have membership meetings, community service events and socials.
