MOSH is proud to partner with the Public Trust Environmental Legal Institute of Florida to present the winning works of the Timucua-Mocama Art Contest, whose mission is to create excitement and interest in presenting a more authentic portrayal of the scenes depicted in the classic Le Moyne/de Bry works published in 1591.
The Public Trust believes the enhancement of these works -- realistically interpreted by today’s skilled artists and made more historically accurate by modern scholarship -- will be a significant contribution to our understanding of the Timucua. The winning paintings by local and regional artists will be on display in honor of the 450th anniversary of Fort Caroline.
