Homeless Veterans Stand Down

Council Member Jim Love participated in the Homeless Veterans Stand Down hosted by the City of Jacksnville Military Affairs and Veterans Department, along with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Florida Florida Veterans Foundation and other partners.
The resource fair for homeless at-risk veterans, held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds, provided veterans with a safe haven where they could receive dental and healthcare screenings, food and clothing, haircuts, disability claims assistance, supportive services and various types of counseling.
Mayor Lenny Curry gave welcoming remarks and helped draw 30 winners for a bicycle give-away sponsored by Walmart.
The City's Military Affairs and Veterans Department has hosted this event for 19 consecutive years. This year's outreach activites aslo included a job fair on Thursday and free legal assistance on Friday.
