Council Members Rahman K. Johnson (District 14) and Nick Howland (At-Large Group 3) will host an unveiling ceremony for the Johnnie Mae Chappell Monument. The ceremony will take place on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Lincoln Villa Community Center, 7866 New Kings Road, Jacksonville, FL 32219.

This event commemorates the life and legacy of Johnnie Mae Chappell, whose tragic death in 1964 became a symbol of the fight for civil rights in Jacksonville. The unveiling follows the passage of Ordinance 2024-697, demonstrating the city's commitment to acknowledging its history and advancing justice.

Council Member Rahman K. Johnson, Ph.D. (District 14), will hold a public meeting to discuss a new townhome development planned for Firestone Road. The meeting will take place Monday December 2nd at 5 PM at Webb Wesconnett Regional Library, 6887 103rd St, Jacksonville, FL 32210.

Residents are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share their thoughts.

Council Member Rahman K. Johnson (District 14), will hold a public meeting to discuss plans for Jammes Road Park. The park is located on the corner of Jammes Road and 118th Street. The meeting will take place on Monday, November 4th, at 5:30 p.m., at Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church, 6317 118th St, Jacksonville, FL 32244.

 

Council Member Rahman Johnson (District 14) will host a public meeting regarding the construction of a liquor store on the corner of Old Middleburg and Collins Roads.

The public is invited to join the Office of General Counsel, Public Works, the project developer, and other city officials. The group will be present to address any concerns from residents and provide detailed information about the project.

Councilman Johnson, Ph.D. (District 14), will host a public meeting regarding Bill 2024-0466. The CEO of Goodwill of North Florida, David Rey, and his staff will be present. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the Lynwood Roberts Room. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
